Grade 6 to Year 7 Transition Program

Transitioning from primary to secondary school is a key step in a student’s educational journey, and at Bruthen Primary School, we are dedicated to making this experience a positive and empowering one.

Our Primary to Secondary School Transition Program is designed to support students both academically and emotionally as they prepare to take on new responsibilities, routines, and challenges. We aim to build confidence, foster resilience, and ensure every student feels ready to thrive in their new environment.

Our Transition Program Features:

  • Orientation Days: Students visit the local Secondary school, meet their future teachers, and participate in classroom and co-curricular activities to get a feel for secondary school life.
  • Peer Support Programs: Opportunities to connect with current secondary students who act as mentors, helping new students settle in and feel welcomed.
  • Parent Information Sessions: The local Secondary Schools provide informative sessions to guide parents and carers through the transition process, school expectations, and how to best support their child.
  • Wellbeing Support: Our dedicated wellbeing team is available to provide support, advice, and guidance to help students navigate this change confidently.
  • Academic Bridging Activities: Targeted learning sessions and resources to help students feel prepared for the academic expectations of secondary school.

We understand that every student’s experience is different, and we are committed to providing personalised support every step of the way.

We warmly encourage families to contact us to learn more about how we support students through this important transition.
