Student Wellbeing at Bruthen Primary School
At Bruthen Primary School, the wellbeing of every child is our priority. We know that students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected. That’s why we take a whole-child approach to wellbeing—supporting academic, physical, social, and emotional development.
Our aim is to help students become confident, caring, and resilient learners, ready for life’s challenges.

Wellbeing Programs at Bruthen Primary School
We use a variety of evidence-based programs across the school:
- The Resilience Project – Teaching gratitude, empathy and mindfulness
- Respectful Relationships – Promoting emotional literacy and healthy relationships
- Kids ROAR – Body safety and protective behaviours
- Inform and Empower Program – Promoting online safety, confidence, and respectful behaviours
- Zones of Regulation – Helping students identify, understand and manage emotions
- Restorative Practices – Supporting students to resolve conflict respectfully and repair relationships
Tiered Wellbeing and Learning Support
Our support structures are designed to ensure that every child gets the help they need—whether it's general classroom wellbeing or more targeted support.
Tier 1: Whole-School & Classroom Support
- Quality teaching, inclusive classroom practices, and whole-school wellbeing programs
- Social-emotional learning embedded across the curriculum
- Classroom routines and expectations that promote safety, respect, and belonging
Tier 2: Targeted Small Group Support
- For students who need extra help building social skills, emotional regulation, or learning habits
- Small group sessions and short-term intervention programs
- Examples include social skills groups, anxiety management, or reading/writing intervention
Tier 3: Individualised Support & Specialist Referral
- For students with more complex needs
- Individualised Education Plans (IEPs) and Behaviour Support Plans developed in partnership with families
- Support from our school wellbeing team and referrals to external specialists, including:
- Speech Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Psychologists
- Paediatricians
- Collaboration with external agencies to provide wrap-around care
