School Improvement Plan

How We Keep Improving at Bruthen Primary School

At Bruthen Primary School, we’re always working to make our school the best it can be—for every student, every day. Whole school improvement means making sure everything we do—teaching, wellbeing, leadership and family partnerships—is purposeful, consistent and always getting better.

We believe that when teachers learn and grow, students benefit. That’s why we’re committed to reflecting, reviewing and improving how we teach and support students across the whole school.

What Are We Aiming For?

We want our school to be a place where:

  • Every child feels safe, happy and ready to learn
  • Teaching is high-quality and helps every student succeed
  • Families feel informed, involved, and welcome
  • Staff work as a team and are always learning too

What We're Focusing On

Our improvement plan is based on the Department of Education’s Framework for Improving Student Outcomes (FISO 2.0) and focuses on four big areas:

1.  Great Teaching for Every Student

  • Teachers use clear, proven strategies that help all learners
  • We plan and teach using the Victorian Curriculum
  • Students are clear on what they’re learning and how to succeed
  • We track student progress and tailor support as needed

2.  A Positive, Supportive School Culture

  • We teach students how to be respectful, resilient and confident
  • Programs like Respectful Relationships, The Resilience Project, and Zones of Regulation help students build strong social
  • and emotional skills
  • Students have a voice in their learning and in school life

3.  Strong Leadership and Teamwork

  • Our school leaders work closely with teachers to guide improvement
  • Staff learn from each other through coaching and collaboration
  • Everyone shares high expectations for learning and behaviour

4.  Working Together with Families

  • We believe learning is stronger when families and teachers work together
  • Parents are kept informed and involved in their child’s progress
  • We build partnerships with local services to support students and families

How Do We Know We're Improving?

We regularly:

  • Review learning and wellbeing data
  • Set goals in our Annual Implementation Plan
  • Gather feedback from students, staff and families
  • Celebrate achievements and keep looking for new ways to grow

Our Promise to You

Every student matters. Every family matters. And we’re always learning too. At Bruthen Primary School, we’re committed to growing a school that brings out the best in every child—now and into the future
